
The forecaster issued the lowest of a three-tier rainstorm warning at 11.10am on Sunday, signalling widespread heavy rain would affect Hong Kong soon.
The signal means that heavy rain has fallen or is expected to fall generally over Hong Kong, exceeding 30mm (1.2 inches) in an hour, and is likely to continue.
Temperatures throughout the day are expected to hover between 27 and 31 degrees Celsius (80.6 and 87.8 Fahrenheit).
