A man has been charged with stabbing his wife, daughter and son in the western German city of Witten, resulting in the death of the 13-year-old boy, prosecutors said on Sunday.
A judge at the district court in the nearby city of Bochum issued an arrest warrant on suspicion of murder and the man has been remanded in custody.
The suspect has made no statement, a spokesman for the public prosecutor’s office said.

The 40-year-old German national was detained on Saturday. Police said an argument began inside a residential building before spilling out on to the street, where several eyewitnesses said they saw the man stab his son.
The boy died despite immediate medical intervention. His mother and nine-year-old sister were seriously injured and were taken to hospital in critical condition.
