
Hong Kong authorities are investigating a suspicious fire that broke out in a residential flat, after a man died when he fell from the building and an elderly woman was overcome due to heavy smoke.
Police received a report of the fire on Friday at around 7pm at a flat in Royal Garden, Ho Man Tin. Firefighters arrived at the scene, used a ladder to access the flat, and put out the blaze about 30 minutes later.
During the incident, a man fell from the sixth floor of the building onto a car park, while a woman in her eighties felt unwell due to heavy smoke inhalation. The pair were sent to Kwong Wah Hospital in Yau Ma Tei.

The man died after arriving at the hospital
Police said the fire was “suspicious” and they were investigating the incident.

Up to 20 residents evacuated the scene.
