Today, Mexican authorities arrested Edgar Valeriano ‘N’, alias “Kamoni”, the alleged regional head of the Tepalcatepec cartel in the municipalities of Tepalcatepec and Buenavista, Michoacán.
According to Security Minister Harfuch, El Kamoni was involved in the production and distribution of synthetic drugs, and extortion of the citrus sector. El Kamoni worked under Juan José Farías Álvarez alias “El Abuelo”, the leader of the Cartel de Tepalcatepec.
Mexican authorities say the arrest was enabled through information sharing with Interpol and Sedena intelligence. El Kamoni is wanted on drug trafficking charges by the U.S. State Department, who put out a reward of 3 million dollars for information that would allow his capture.
