State security forces arrested Gabriel Nicolás Martínez Larios, alias “Gabito” or “El 80”, a high ranking officer of the Los Chapitos faction of the Sinaloa Cartel last night in Mazatlán.
The operation happened around 8:30 p.m. on Monday, June 1, in the Real del Valle residential complex in Mazatlán, by agents of the Sinaloa State Public Security Secretariat.
News media and several narco messages identify El Gabito as the alleged leader of Los Chapitos in the southern region of Sinaloa. He was allegedly behind the kidnapping and killing of ten employees of a silver mine in Concordia, Sinaloa in January 2026, a case which attracted widespread attention.
Last week, a narco banner signed by the El Gabito claimed that his faction rejected an offer to switch sides from their rivals, Los Mayos, as reported by Borderland Beat.
